Bball (M) vs Hall 12
16 December
By Soh Jung Hong
Our hall started strongly in the first quarter, with a commanding lead of 12 points. Due to the depth of our squad, we started the game with half court press, a strategy and tactic that was used mainly to drain out the opponent’s energy. Building on this momentum, we continued the bright start with glimpses of a championship team, and went on to win the game 66-21.We got our usual stellar outing from some of our main players, including ex-MVP Tan Rui Teck, who contributed 14 points and Tan Chun Hoe(ex-MVP cum national player), who has a double-double.
We did the little things that add up to winning games, including offensive rebounds and water-tight defence. Putting a halt to their key player, Terence, was a critical move that hurt hall 12. However, we also recognised that certain aspect of the game need to be improved. Turnover is one of our main concern which need to be addressed. We cannot afford to make a lot of mistakes against lesser opponents. We have to play almost flawless ball, and we have to outscrap, outshustle, outwork our opponents and keep believing in ourselves to have any realistic chance to clinching the championship. Tougher games await us, but with our strong team spirit, we believe we can go far.
Overall, it is still a commendable effort for hall 2, and a good opening game for both teams.
