SRC, Wednesday, December 16, 2009 – Hall 2 thrashed Hall 13 67-12 in the preliminary round of the Basketball Interhall Game. There was a total of 6 three pointers scored by #7 Shan Ting, #11 Jayne and #13 Kalai.
Hall 2 started out pretty strongly against Hall 13 with a point difference of 12 in the first quarter with a score of 18-6, given that they wasn’t any training done with the full team prior to the game, this was really a test of team spirit. Hall 13 managed to intercept the ball a few time but failed to convert.

After the first quarter, our team sort out the problems that are happening during the game and refined the strategies to play even better. The score was pulled even further to 32-10 by the end of second quarter. Hall 13 was constantly troubled by our defence at the three point line which resulted in a lot of turnovers and fastbreaks.
During the third quarter we were determined to increase our defence and we manage to deny Hall 13 any goals. Other than that, we speed up our attacks and the third quarter ended with a score of 53-10. The tight defence that we put up continued into the last quarter and the game ended with a score of 67-12.

Hall 2 will meet Hall 11 next in the group stage.

SRC, Friday, December 18, 2009 – Hall 2 triumph over Hall 11 with a score of 48-6 in the preliminary round of the Basketball Interhall Game.

It was obvious before the match that our girls were not in the least intimidated by today’s rivals. Relaxed and confident, starting players Huilin, Jayne, Sarah, Shan Ting and Yuzhen entered the court. Backing them up for today were Adeline, Chin Pei, Eliza, Eunice, Rose, Tricia, and Zhihui

Hall 2 put up a strong defence thereby disallowing Hall 11 to penetrate in, forcing them to shoot from outside, but none made it into the basket. Though relaxed, Hall 2 played very well in the first quarter to lead with a big margin of 21 points.

In the second quarter, we see a decrease in attack. We attempted a number of shots but only manage to score 6 points. The score was 27-2 by the end of second quarter.

During the third quarter we manage to intercept several balls but failed to convert. However, this is a good sign to show that our defence had improved. The third quarter ended with a score of 34-6. The tight defence that we put up sustained into the last quarter and the game ended with a score of 48-6.

Hall 2 will proceed to the quarter finals.
