IHG 291208 / Tennis

Today is the Tennis QF against Hall 6. Although some of our players are new to the game, they displayed amazing fighting spirits against their more skilful opponents. Our Men's Doubles, Yuan Kai and Zong Ming, were too strong for their opponents, and managed to clinch a point for Hall 2. Our Mixed doubles, Alex and Adeline, also overcame their opponent to clinch another point. The rest of the matches, played by Yi Fang, Si Ying, Yongtse and Shawn, went to Hall 6. No matter what the results are, our players did well for this IHG and We R SO PROUD of THEM!!

(Hall TWO) 2 - 3 (Hall SIX)

IHG 291208 / Basketball and Takraw

Sepak Takraw
The morning kicked off with our Hall 2’s Sepak Takraw Team playing against Hall 6. Our boys put up a good show with their superb eye-foot coordination and teamwork. Team members who were not on the court playing were at the sidelines cheering on their fellow team-mates. This illustrated the support and team spirit of Hall 2 despite losing to Hall 6 3-0. Great effort boys!

Basketball (Girls)
Our Basketball Team (F) competed in today’s Quarter Finals against the girls of Hall 8. The first goal was scored by the Hall 2 Team within seconds of the game commencement. The girls from both Halls put up an adrenalin-pumping match with their excellent throws and rebounds. However, the Hall 2 Team was not to be trifled with as they were evidently stronger. The first half of the match saw the Hall 2 Team leading with 43-04. Despite the fantastic show put up by our girls, our opponents were not that easily daunted, and attempted to catch up. Nevertheless, our girls were still the victorious ones with the final score of 79-29.

Definitely more to look out for in the semi finals! Watch out for these girls with great hands for balls!

Basketball (Boys)
Basketball (Boys) Quarter Finals ended on a high note! We WON! The game ended with a score of 56-32 against Hall 7. This game wasn’t like the normal BBall game we always saw. Many tricks were displayed, with some of them getting the audience and points for the team! Fancy moves or not, our boys were incredible. And We are In the Semis!! Woo hoo!!

Kudos to them and more to come! Do come down and support them during the semis!! They need your cheers!!

IHG 271208/ Soccer & Softball (F)

Soccer

This morning, Our Soccer Team was playing against Hall 8. Hall 2 made strategic attacks and coordinated well to force our opponents to defend their goal. Hall 8 also had some good players. However, our team still brought us victory, with the final score of 3-0.Well Done!!!

SOFTBALL (F)

The softball (F) match against Hall 11 today was important, as it determines our fate of going into QF. Some of our players were rather inexperienced in softball but our fighting spirit was there and burning. Our players fought hard but sadly lost the game with score of 3-10. Our Softball (F) trained hard for their games, even though they are out of the competition, they did their best and we are proud of their achievements!!

IHG 261208/ Squash, Hockey (M) and Bridge

SQUASH

The Squash match was held at SRC squash court and our opponent this time round was Hall 6. The first round was started by our Willy Lim. He did a really good job in the match, winning 9-1 and 9-0. The second round was played by Tan Pei Qi. She is good but unfortunately her opponent was better, so in the end Hall 2 lost 6-9 and 1-9. The third round was played by Mustafa andhis opponent was too strong for him, so we lost this game. In the fourth round, Mabel battled with hall 6’s hall fellow’s daughter, Ling An, who is in Secondary 1. She too was too good for Mabel, so the victory was Hall 6’s. Zee Shan played the fifth round, and he managed to retrieve some points by getting 9-0 in both games. Overall, we lost to Hall SIX 2-3.

HOCKEY (M)

Hockey (M) match took place in NIE. Our team is seemed stronger and more united than hall 10. After battling for half an hour, we finally won the match by 2-0. Well done guys for making it into the Quarters!

BRIDGE

Our bridge team also started their quest today. We played quite well in the beginning, but unfortunately the victory was not at our side and we were 3rd in the group and did not get into the Quarters. Nevertheless, they tried their best and we should be proud of them!

Well Done Darts Team!!

Our Darts Team was so close to making history on 231208, when they were so close of making it into the Darts Semi Finals. The game started on 221208, where they won all their matches, making them one of the hot favorites to win the competition. HOwever, things were not so easy when they lost their first match narrowly to Hall 6 on the 2nd day. Following that, they surprisingly lost to Hall 7 again. They eventually won their last match against Hall 4, however, in terms of board wins, we lost to Hall 9 by a board, making us 3rd overall in the group, unable to go into semis. Nevertheless, our players did their best, and they had surpassed past years' results. Well done everyone!!

SNOOKER

Our Snooker team faced Hall 6 in the semis, and lost narrowly with the score of 2 -3.

Well done to Our snooker team for doing Hall 2 proud in the IHRG!

IHG 231208/ Hockey (M)

HOCKEY (M)

Our opponent today was Hall 3. The match was exciting as both teams appeared to possess similar level of skills and experiences. Hall 3 was known to have some good players who can play very well. The supporters of both teams were all in high- spirit and cheered the players on. Although the two teams tried their best to break through the defense to score, we drew at full- time. We went into a penalty shootout, and finally Hall 2 emerged victorious as the goalkeeper managed to block out one ball. At the same time, we saw the joy in their smiling faces. In the end, Hall 2 won the penalty shootout with the score of 3 -2. Good job to the Hockey Team!

IHG 221208/ Squash, Takraw, Hockey & Volleyball

VOLLEYBALL

The volleyball (male and female) and hockey matches were held at National Institute of Education. We had excellent results in the volleyball games. Our opponent’s determination and confidence got lower after we got a bigger lead. So, our team did not face any strong resistance and won the matches. Our girls won Hall 15 25-8, 25-5. Our guys won Hall 12 25-10, 25-9. Well done, everyone!!!

HOCKEY (F)

There was a strong fight in the afternoon in Hockey (Female). Both of us and our opponent, Hall 15, were evenly matched. Hall 15 apparently had a few good players, but they were unable to capitalise on that. We drew at full time, with the score of 0 - 0. However victory was not ours in the end as we lost in the penalty shootout. I am sure that we can do it better next time!!!

SQUASH

Squash was held at SRC. Everyone was in high spirits in the morning. Our squash players didn’t disappoint us by thrashing Hall 3 with strategies. We won the game 4-1, good job!

TAKRAW

Our Takraw team showed good fighting spirit during the games. We started strong and won all the games, with the final score of 3 -0. We hope that you all can bring us victory next time! Kambateh!

IHG 211208/ Table Tennis

Our table tennis team seemed to be on form today and played very well. We played against Hall 1 and if we win this game, we will be the leader of our group and that will help us avoid playing the strong teams in the next round. Today, our team entered the game with high spirit and was well-prepared, playing better than their first match against Hall 9. Our Men’s Doubles did not face with any strong resistance and quickly ended the game with score 3-0. The second game was the Men’s Singles. Our player got a lot of difficulty with his opponent, but with his determination and good skills, he finished the game with victory. The third game was the Mixed doubles. Our players won this game with the score 3-1 without much difficulty. Well done to our table-tennis team for advancing into the QuarterFinals!

IHG 201208/ Softball (M)

The scorching rays of the sun shone upon the field where the male softball match was due to take place this afternoon. The heat however did nothing to dampen the fighting spirit of our Hall 2 softball team. The game began on a good note with Hall 2 leading Hall 10. Once again, our star pitcher, Si Kuan, performed well and managed to strike out several Hall 10 batters. The other team members displayed great teamwork as well. When it was Hall 2’s turn at bat, our players did not disappoint as they managed to score several points. Noteworthy plays were made as our players fought to win. Hall 2 originally won the game with a stunning score of 13-nil however, both teams decided to continue on. Eventually, our team took the match with a score of 13-2. Great work boys!

IHG 191208/ Basketball (M), Softball (F) & Tennis

Tennis

The day started off with the tennis girls’ singles followed by girls’doubles in the morning. Despite some of the players being rather inexperienced in tennis, our players put up a good fight with our Hall 12 opponents. They enthusiastically kept up with the game with some beautiful strokes and defences. It was evident that they had trained hard and put in great effort. The opponents capitalised upon the lack of experience and gained the upper hand. Even though we did not beat our opponents, it was definitely a great effort on our players’ part! Keep it up Girls!

In addition to the tennis female singles, the tennis mixed doubles match took place simultaneously. The Hall 12 opponents were skilled and they displayed good teamwork. Thus, they took the lead as the game progressed. Our Hall 2 players fought hard but sadly lost the game. Their hard work, however, is to be commended.

For the tennis male doubles, the game began with a bang as our players attacked aggressively and performed well. Though the Hall 12 opponents were rather formidable, they could not match up to our players who clearly had great chemistry between them. Their movements were fluid and their strokes were swift as they mounted their attacks on Hall 12’s team. The game ended in Hall 2’s favour as Hall 12 yielded under our might.

Our tennis Boys’ singles was delayed till later in the morning due to some unforeseen circumstances. Our player – Yuan Kai, was all hyped up and ready to go! Brimming with energy, he successfully launched many attacks with his different strokes and defended well. Our opponent put up a good fight though and good sportsmanship was evidently shown with Yuan Kai cheering his opponent on during the game itself! Eventually our player won Congratulations!

Overall, Hall 2 was the winner of the morning with a score of 3-2. Well done everyone!

Basketball (M)

The slick movements of the basketball players captivated the attention of all present at the court. With their cohesive team work and superior mastery of the game, it was evident that the team had put in much sweat and hard work. It was a showcase of talent as each individual player had their merits. They thrilled the crowd with their spectacular goals, leaving the Hall 8 opponents dispirited and unmotivated. Having lost their desire to win, the opponents were disorganised in their attack and the game was in the bag for Hall 2. Having defended well, our players bested the opponent with a wide margin. The score was 71 to 15. Hall 2 has now sailed past the preliminaries and we are now into the quarter finals. Congratulations to team Hall 2 for a job well done indeed!

Softball (F)

It was a good game for our Hall two’s softball girls this afternoon. With our girls’ excellent judgment when being the batters, they got to advance and complete some bases almost effortlessly when the opponent’s pitcher fouled. On the other hand, our very own pitcher- Shu Wei, had skilfully pitched the ball and strike out some of our opponents. The highlight of the game came when our player beautifully batted the ball up and away, leaving our opponent team running and dashing for the ball while our girls did a flawless homerun! Despite a strong fight put up by the opponent’s team- Hall 14, and the bad weather condition in the midst of the game, our team emerged as the winner of the game with a final score of 7-2! Well done girls!

IHG 181208/ Table Tennis & Water Polo

TABLE TENNIS
It was an exciting and yet another fruitful experience for our very own hall 2 table tennis IHG players this afternoon! Our players were energised and ever-ready for a good fight with our opponents from Hall 9. They started off enthusiastically with rounds of warm up within our own players, while waiting for the game to officially start off. There were 5 matches to be played in total this afternoon.

The first match to kick off was the table tennis guys singles. When the match began, the opponent immediately took an early lead. Our player hence fought very hard and managed to reclaim some points to make up for the lost ground. However, despite his best efforts, the experienced Hall 9 player eventually won this round.

The girls single was second in the lineup. Hall 2 sent an experienced player and she commanded the game. She displayed excellent control over the ball and handed her opponent’s attacks smoothly. As such, she defeated the Hall 9 player and claimed the first victory for Hall 2’s table tennis matches today.

The third match was that of the guys doubles. The match was exciting as both teams appeared to possess similar skill levels and experience. The score was neck to neck as our Hall 2 players fought valiantly to win. In the end, it was unfortunate that we lost by a slight margin with the victory going to Hall 9 instead.

The girls doubles took place next. Our players were confident and held their ground as they starved off the opponents’ attacks. They worked well together and moved seamlessly as a team. Hall 2 hence won the round as a result of their great coordination and wonderful team play.

The final match was the mixed doubles. Hall 2 and Hall 9 were now standing at even ground with 2 victories each. This match would thus decide the winner of the day. Though there were some tense and nerve wracking moments when it seemed that the Hall 9 players would gain the upper hand, hall 2 kept their cool and played excellently, allowing us to walk away with a victory of 3-2 overall.

Well done everyone!

WATER POLO

The water polo players of Hall 2 were fantastic in their match against Hall 13. Our players played well and were constantly on the attack. It came as no surprise when they quickly took the lead a short time into the match. By the second half, Hall 2 was still going strong as they extended their lead comfortably without much resistance from the players of Hall 13. In fact, the water polo players of Hall 2 did so well that our goalkeeper was rarely called into action as the opposing team was unable to advance near the goalpost. Hall 2 water polo males walked away with a stunning score of 17-nil, thrashing their opponents of Hall 13. It was a short and exciting match indeed with the thrilling goals scored by our various players. Congratulations to all!

Well Done Hall 2 Billiard/4 Ball team!!

On 131208, Hall 2 featured in the Billiard / 4 Ball against Hall 8. Although the Hall 2 players did very badly in Othello a few days ago, that did not dampen the spirits of our players. They made pretty good cues, but it was still not good enough of a win. Hall 2 lost in Billiard 1 - 2. Hall 2 lost in 4 -Ball 1 – 1. Overall, Hall 2 lost 2 – 3 to Hall 8.

Later in the day, Our Rec players played against Hall 14. Even though they just lost an earlier match, our players did not let that affect their morale and they played very well. They won Hall 14 in Billiard 3 – 0. We drew with Hall 14 in 4 Ball 1 -1. Overall, Hall 2 won 4 -1, and managed to get into the quarters! They later faced Hall 8 again to fight for a place in the quarter finals, and managed to take revenge, winning Hall 8 to advance into Quarter-Finals! Well Done!

Our Snooker team did our Hall proud in the end by making it into the Semis, losing out to a better Hall. Well done Hall 2 Snooker team!! We R so proud of U all!

IHG 171208/ Softball & Volleyball

Today is a good day for Hall 2. We managed to win all games for the day!!

Softball Guys

Our Softball Guys played very well against Hall 4. In fact, they were so good that Hall 4 did not manage to get any points and Hall 4 did not even manage to get to second base for the whole game!!
Our Best Pitcher – Aw Si Kuan, threw so consistently, that he striked out several batters and also saved one ball to strike out a batter with an unbelievable save!! It certainly was the highlight of the day for Hall 2! The supporters were super solid, and this spurred the players to play even better. Hall 2 won the game 14 -0. Well done guys! Hall 2, ho ho ho!!

Volleyball Girls

This game was certainly another highlight of the day at the NIE Indoor Court, as the two sports power Halls, Hall 2 and Hall 6, played against each other. The number of audiences for the match was spectacular, as other halls also came to watch.
The scores were neck to neck throughout the whole game. Hall 2 played very consistently to save all the spikes from Hall 6. Our players did some spectacular saves, and played very well. We won the first set 26 – 24. It was that close!
The second set was equally exciting. Hall 6 was not far behind Hall 2 in score, and even overtook Hall 2 in mid game. However, our players kept their cool and played briilantly under pressure. With guidance from our IVP captain, they took the second set 25 -21.

Volleyball Guys

Following the sweet victory of the first match, Hall 2 Volleyball (Males) team was up against Hall 4 in the second match today. Our volleyball guys smoothly grabbed the victory of the first set. However, our opponents pulled up their defence strongly in the second set and managed to play strategically and beat us off guard. With the great support from our residents, the morale of the volleyball guys were high and confidence grew in the third set. The guys played beautifully and emerged winners, with our Hall 2 team qualifying for the Quarters.

161208 IHG/ Softball & Basketball

SOFTBALL (FEMALE)

It was a bright Tuesday morning at the SRC softball field where our hall 2 girls were having their very first softball game against the greens, hall 6.

In the first set of game, both teams were evenly matched. Due to their inappropriate pitching and unsuccessful home run, it can be seen that more emphasis is being placed on defense by our girls to prevent hall 6 from scoring.

Whenever our valuable player, Shuwei, switched her role to pitcher, everyone will expect her great play and control of the game as they will direct their attentions to her.

It seems like she has already acclimatized herself to the usual tactics (underarm, backhand flip pitch) and has scored a perfect pitch consistently which has caused a few opponents to either foul or to be out of the field.

However, at the last set of the game, hall 6 opponent unexpectedly hit the softball home run which in turn ended the game with a score of 2:3.

Despite the lost in this game, our girls have shown us their great teamwork and I believe that they will do better in the future.

BASKETBALL (MALES)

Immediately after the Softball match, over at the sports hall in NIE, our hall 2 boys were having their basketball match against hall 15. The game has started with hall 15 leading initially. Soon after, hall 2 has managed to score and was showing excellent team spirit in managing the players. The boys have been fighting very hard to close up the gap in the score against hall 15. However, due to a few unsuccessful attempts in retrieving rebounds and inaccurate shots, it has brought to a higher challenge for them in catching up to hall 15’s pace.

Even though we have lost the game, the boys have completed the game with great effort and determination.

BASKETBALL (FEMALES)

Over at NIE in the evening, our hall 2 girls were all well prepared for their basketball match against hall 7.

The game started off well with hall 2 scoring the first 2 points within a minute!

In a short period of time, the girls had already built up their momentum and fought brilliantly to lead the game. All shots were clean and accurate. The girls did not give any chance for their opponents to even score or catch up in the first quarter. With all the enthusiasm and effective team spirit, the girls had led the game leaving a huge gap in the score for hall 7 to catch up.

Hall 7 girls had played rather well in catching up with hall 2’s pace.

However, our girls were getting stronger in every ways as the game proceeds.

Not to forget the 3 pointers of Hall 2, who had scored consistently with their smooth and precise shots. Hall 2 had led the score even further for their opponents to catch up.

The players as well as the supporters of Hall 2 have been optimistic in winning the game. Indeed, the girls have won the game with a score of 71-39. Congratulations! Well done girls!

IHG 151208/ Volleyball (F&M)

Due to the bad weather this morning, our tennis game had been postponed to a later date. Thus, our Hall 2 Tennis Team still could not decide our destiny.

In contrast with the morning, the weather in the afternoon was good. However our players could not have any benefit from this because the volleyball (male and female) matches were held indoor at NIE. We had an excellent result. The female team first played against Hall 14. Our girls began too well by getting 12 point straight from the start before conceding a point to the opponent. Continuing the victorious tendency, our team finished the first game with the score 25-5. In the second round, it seemed that our competitor gave up hope, so our team did not get any strong resistance and won with the incredible score 25-0. How wonderful our girls were!

Not as easy as the females’ game, our male team got a strong resistance from Hall 16. In the first game, we were seemed the stronger team than our opponent. With the strong attack and good strategies, we finished the first game with the score 25-17. In the second round, we put in some bench players to get a feel of the competition atmosphere. Our team lost with a score 21-25. In the last game, our players came back very well. the game finishing quickly with the win for our team 25-7.
Today was so good day for our volleyball team and we hope to continue our sweet victory for softball and basketball tomorrow.

IHG Tennis And Basketball / 121208

After losing the first round, Hall 2 Tennis team had to win their second round with Hall 11 today. Both teams played very well, but it was Hall 2 which emerged victorious. Hall 2 was stunned when Hall 11 took the first game of womens’ doubles. However, we came back strong in the women’s singles to draw at 1-1 overall. Hall 2 took the following mens’ doubles and singles as well, only to lose slightly in the mixed doubles. Hall 2 won the match 3 – 2 overall.

Changing our focus to Basketball (Female) at NIE, Hall 2 played brilliantly to win the game in extra time. Hall 2 was trailing Hall 9 throughout the game till the 4th quarter. Our players did not lose hope, and came back stronger after each quarter, slowly catching up with Hall 9’s pace. Hall 2 managed to draw with Hall 9 in the last 2 seconds, bringing the game into extra time. Hall 2 played fabulously, limiting Hall 9’s chances to shoot. In the end, Hall 2 won the game 71 – 61.

In the evening, the focus was on Basketball (Male), Hall 2 playing against Hall 8. Hall 2 managed to grab 10 points straight at the beginning to leave Hall b biting the dust, making it hard for Hall 8 to catch up. Our players played very well, scoring goals after goals to widen the gap to 24 points. In the end, Hall 2 won the game 54-30.

Well done to all our Hall 2 players!!

IHG Netball & Badminton / 111208

Hall 2’s netball girls came away with a credible 35-1 result against Hall 5 early this morning. Additional training since Tuesday’s match with experienced coaches ensured the team’s victory with good teamwork, fluid passing and attacking. The team was stunned when Hall 5 drew first blood soon after the start of the game but they soon settled down and gained control over Hall 5. Their confidence and determination grew as the match progressed as they made remarkable improvements in their teamwork and communication. The defence also created many chances through multiple interceptions which contributed to the score. However, there is still much room for improvement as we had capitalised on some weak passing by Hall 5 which would not happen with stronger opponents. Nevertheless, the girls have done us proud and with their new found strategies and confidence and with the team beginning to gel together, we look forward to seeing our girls pull off a victory in our next crunch game against Hall 1 for the last quarter-final slot and revenging for the narrow loss to them in the first game.

The badminton team came off with a comfortable 3-1 victory against Hall 11 earlier this afternoon. The team rested its senior players and some freshies were allowed a run against Hall 11 to gain much valuable experience. The men’s singles, women’s singles and doubles were easily won by our players with our only loss coming in the men’s doubles. Our freshies, Zhi Kai and Kendrick, put up a good fight but they were let down by some raw touches and good play by the opponents. They had started strong and won the first set but the more experienced Hall 11 players played better in the second and third set and capitalised on the boys’ weaknesses. However, it was a gallant effort and the boys will surely learn much from this experience. The team is through to the next round with two wins out of two games. The next round will see much stronger opponents but with star player Jing Ru leading the team, we hope to see off every opponent and see us obtaining the title which had eluded us last year.

IHG Tennis & Takraw / 101208

IHG Hall 2 101208/ Tennis and Takraw

In the morning, Hall 2 Tennis Team faced a rather strong team from Hall 16. Although Hall 2 team consists of a few inexperienced players, they showed their best performance against Hall 16. The team captain, Alex, took the first game to give the team a morale boost. However, the following Women’s Singles and Doubles matches went to Hall 16. Our Mens’ Doubles took another game down brilliantly to tie at 2 – 2 overall. The last Mixed Doubles was the deciding match; however our pair was no match for the experienced pair from Hall 16. The whole game ended at 2 – 3. Even though we lost this match, I believe our players will strive even harder to bring pride to Hall 2. Jiayou!

In the afternoon, Hall 2 was up against Hall 6 in Sepak Takraw. Many supporters from Hall 6 came down, but that did not affect our players’ performance. Hall 2 lost the first game 10-21. The second set was very exciting, as the team cruised to victory rather unexpectedly, as the Hall 6 team is pretty experienced. The second set went to Hall 2, 21-16. In the deciding third set, our players were not good enough to win as they made some unforced errors and gave free points to the opponents. The game ended at 8-21. Overall score: (Hall 2) 1 – 2 (Hall 6).

IHG photos for 091208/ Netball and Badminton

Hall 2 IHG 091208

Our very own badminton team who were the beaten finalists last year began this year’s competition with a deserving 3-0 victory against Hall 7. It took the team less than 75mins to finish the matches and issued a strong warning to its competitors of the depth and hunger of this year’s team. Hall 7’s much credible resistance came from its men’s doubles pair. They put up a gallant fight back but they were no match for Ke Wei and his partner. Our badminton team will feature again this Thursday afternoon. Catch all the action live at the Badminton Hall at SRC.

Our netball girls played very well today too, fighting very hard in the final 3 quarters against the opponents from Hall 1. However, the stronger Hall 1 had the deserving win in the end, winning 20 - 16. However, Hall 2 is not disheartened by this defeat, and will return stronger for future matches!

Our Rec games are not as good though, but do JIAYOU for future games!! JIAYOU JIAYOU JIAYOU!!

GO GO Hall TWO!!!

Netball and Badminton / 09-12-08

Netball - 16 (Hall 2) : 20 (Hall 1)
Badminton - 3 (Hall 2) : 0 (Hall 7)

Today is the first day of IHG, and it starts off well with a sunny weather. Our netball girls did very well against the active and ever-running Hall 1 girls. Although the first quarter was a bit dissapointing, but our girls put up a good fight in the remaining quarters to chase back lost points, putting a lot of pressure on Hall 1. I was very impressed with their fighting spirit, especially the little actions that they do to motivate themselves. I'm proud of the girls as they were never feeling down although they were doing catching up throughout the whole game. Netball girls, JIAYOU for the upcoming matches!! U can do it!!

Our badminton team, the 2nd seed of the game, did not dissapoint us by thrashing Hall 7 3 sets to nothing. It was a job well done!!! Jiayou too!! Keep up the good work!
