Smile and Press on!

Hello hall 2! Its me again! Yesterday I just ran the New Balance Real Run and honestly I almost died running. Well for those of you who are not familiar, the real run is basically a cross terrain running challenge. It is 15km long, running on sand, grass and this year an airport runway strip. The Sunday morning sun was really unforgiving and relentless. Just starting out I felt the heat beating down on me (I’ve my sock tan line as proof), furthermore my preparations for this race was the best I could make out with the time I had. You could literally see the heat rising from the surface of the tarmac, a long straight runway where you couldn’t see the end. Not to mention when I hit the sand. Hahaha it was treacherous!! I’m not here to boast or say I brave the heat and blasted off to a glorious and victorious finish, in truth, I struggled all the way. I was so tempted to give up but what I did was give myself a smile (though I was really dying) and pressed on trudging my way slowly but surly to the finish line.

For most of you the exams are around the corner with either two or three weeks left to prepare. Here I just want to urge you all not give up no matter how you feel. Give yourself a smile and press on with your studies. Personally I feel, like with running, sometimes it is not how fast u run or what your ‘pole position’ is, it is the courage to take on the race and your spirit that preservers and carries you cross the finish line. Like for the coming exams, your results aren’t the end, they are merely a means to one. So press on everyone and all the best!! Study hard we’d see each other at the finish line! STAY POSITIVE EVERYONE!!!!

4 rReasons to Join the Hall 2 Overseas Trip!!

Consistent with the latest buzz in hall with regards to the overseas trip, for those of you who are still considering I have come up with a list of reason why you should make sure you book yourself a place to join us in Malaysia!

1) Socialize Socialize Socialize!!

Honestly tell me what better way is there to get to know someone better and have a conversation then to travel together? (If u do know pls email me at sqwerc@hotmail.com) Especially on the bus! Get yourself a seat with someone you want to get to know or the hall girl of your dreams!

2) Food

No, I am not posting a nutritional chart of what you’re going to have for meal overseas. Haha but I heard the food in Malaysia is really much tastier! I know you know I know you know the reason for this; I’m putting it in small print so I don’t offend those who don’t want to read this. The food is unhealthier! I mean thank goodness for the health guidelines in Singapore that stop hawerkers from pouring barrels of lard and oil into your food!. Ahem. Yes the food will be great!

3) Company

My perfect day will be hitting going for a run, hitting the gym do some supersets and go chill out with my friends! Yupp it’s the company! Where are you going to get the chance to travel with such an awesome group of people? Yupp don’t turn away I’m talking about u hall two residents! Get all your friends down and have a great time!

4) Shopping

I’ve not done any shopping in Malaysia but I know for a fact that you people love this. Due to the different economic structure of Singapore and Malaysia and the effect of the exchange rate, the SGD has greater purchasing power in Malaysia then as compared to Singapore. Let me explain this using the demand and supply curve to illustrate why the Singapore dollar is as such…..

Ok so I’m going to just end off before this becomes an economics essay. So all you out there if u have any suggestions or comments yupp my email is there! Have a good week ahead! Good Day!!.

FREE ICE CREAM!!!!!

Hello Everyone!

Hall Two is proud to bring a chilling event - The Ice Cream Fest at Canteen 2! The event will be held Canteen 2, Wednesday October 17th, 8pm! So go enjoy yourselves and load up on those calories, sugars and fats. Well I'm not trying to be a party pooper but I feel its my social responsibility to give you the low down on ice cream. From the web-site http://www.calorieking.com/ here is a table for your kind attention.

Ok i do hope all of you can see this clearly. Well basically its the average nutritional facts regarding regular soft serve ice cream. Hahaha I choose this cos i think its most closely related to the ice cream you'll be consuming on Wednesday. (All ice cream lovers I'm not against ice cream, its is just the facts).

Alright so back to the basics, every serving which is about 2 FULL SCOOPS, half of which is bad fat! So you are basically eating a lump of fat and sugar (21.2g). Ok before i get stoned to death there is a forgiving factor, there is protein and calcium. Hahaha yupp well reason being ice cream is dairy there are some forgiving factors. However before you start wolfing down gallons of ice cream its it pretty clear the negative far outweigh the positive. Referring to the pie chart u can see the positive part is that tiny green portion!

All is not lost! Well for every serving of your ice cream you can walk for an hour; jog for 25mins; swim for 18mins or cycle for 34mins. Do note that your required to hit a min heart rate of 60%-70% of your maximum. So strolling around shopping doesn't count!

Hope this article is not dampening your spirits. There is still hope! Hahaha for one there are tonnes of sports you can join and even compete in for the coming IHG. Join some trainings and burn off those tubs of ice cream. Not into sports but u love running around taking photos and videos? PUBLICATIONS is an awesome choice for you! How about cheer leading? A high intensity power packed fat burning activity! Want to join? Just drop me an email!

-Shawn Chua
(Disclaimer, I am not against ice cream or anyone who eats it i might even have a scoop myself! Moderation is key! Even drinking gallons of protein will kill you)

Exercis Rising Sun!!

Greetings everyone!! Wow my first blog and my first post! Haha! I am pleased to announce mission accomplished for exercise rising sun. We would like to thank everyone for their participation. It is not everyday that you cycle throughout the night, shove down combat rations, tackle problematic bikes, pallet each other with water bombs and finally enjoy the run rise with great company and awesome (but not very healthy) breakfast! Not to mention an elite cycling force that went several extra miles! I truly enjoyed the experience though my rear was sore for several days. Cheers to all those that made this event possible!! -Shawn
