Our second match was against Hall 15, ever the experienced team and former champions 2 years ago. However, with their old guard graduated and newcomers still not as polished, we managed to take a victory over them despite the lack of players on our side. Having to call non-softballers down to fill up the team did not help with our morale given that we boast a 20-men team, more than enough to play 2 full teams. Thanks Shahul for lending us a hand in the match.
With that, we made it into the quarterfinals against a surprising underdog Hall 4 team. Some heated arguments occurred before our match as Hall 4 had already played 2 games before meeting us and wanted a rescheduling of match. However, having waited for close to 5 hours already, we found it ridiculous for such a request to be brought up. They gave in eventually and continued with the match held on our captain, Bryan’s softball career, as he made a very bold statement that he would quit if we lost the match.
With that said, wet conditions and other factors contributed to an extremely dismal performance of the team. Star players Si Kuan, Bryan and Zee had to make several inspiring speeches to bring the morale of the team up before we made a comeback victory of 5-4 runs, an extremely low-scoring match with the absence of major sluggers like Mustafa (who decided to extend his stay in Pakistan).
With Sann shining brightly down on us, our star pitcher, Si Kuan gave a spectacular performance, pitching strikes after strikes, placing the ball at the ends of the strike zone which proved incredibly difficult for Hall 11 to get any good hits. The first inning ended with Hall 2 slightly in the lead, and we truly believed that we could win with a fairly green team.
Of course, we could not have gone so far without our faithful supporters who woke up so bloody early and cheered their hearts out.

Hello HALL 2!
There is no recreational game more mind-boggling than Boggle. On the fateful day of the competition, our team arrived at Hall 8 feeling as prepared as we could be. Despite training for a REALLY short amount of time, we were able to display flair and confidence and clinch key matches that would not spell ultimate defeat for us (aka last place).
Fawn Cher and John Tan, being newbies to the game and having received little to no practice, managed to put 1 player to shame respectively and claim a win for themselves. Impressive if I may add. Their seemingly lacklustre performance in the beginning was obviously a facade.
Our Scrabble team this year consisted of mainly rookie freshmen as most seniors were unavailable. Our initial expectations were low because of the lack of experience and we were not told of the rich past of Hall 2 in the IHRG. However, with strong backing from seniors Wen Yuan, Song Teck and especially Sze Yong, we were able to really put up a strong fight against other teams. Every opponent team, including the favourites, did not have easy times as we won against two teams and never lost by more than one board. Speaking of the experience, both of us managers feel that everyone was very enthusiastic throughout the competition and did their best at each game, always looking forward to the next. We never stopped learning. We always held on to the chance of winning and each game was equally brain and nerve wrecking.
Although we failed to qualify for the semi-finals, the whole team never felt demoralised and we kept learning and enjoying the experience. With this in mind, Sze Yong and the both of us feel that we have a strong core team now and if retained, it is highly likely that the team can achieve much more in the next IHRG, including emerging as champions. We are already starting plans for training, including joining external competitions to bolster our experience and to scout for more talents. Overall, the experience at IHRG 09/10 was a really good one and we hope to experience it again.

We got our usual stellar outing from some of our main players, including ex-MVP Tan Rui Teck, who contributed 14 points and Tan Chun Hoe(ex-MVP cum national player), who has a double-double.

Hall 2 started out pretty strongly against Hall 13 with a point difference of 12 in the first quarter with a score of 18-6, given that they wasn’t any training done with the full team prior to the game, this was really a test of team spirit. Hall 13 managed to intercept the ball a few time but failed to convert.
During the third quarter we were determined to increase our defence and we manage to deny Hall 13 any goals. Other than that, we speed up our attacks and the third quarter ended with a score of 53-10. The tight defence that we put up continued into the last quarter and the game ended with a score of 67-12.

Hall 2 was to meet with Hall 6 for yet another qualifying netball match. The team met early to discuss the strategy to be played against the team rumoured to be one of the strongest teams around. As the time for the match drew nearer, the girls were raring to go, determined to put up a tough fight.
The first quarter went beyond the team's expectations, the girls produced an impressive shots, and they took full advantage of the chances created. Hall 2 lead on the scoreboard 9-8, surprising everyone around, including the Hall 6 team, who on seeing the level of play, put on their best seven on the next 3 quarters.
The loss meant that the team would meet Hall 1 in a match to decide who will proceed on to the winner's pool, and play for the top 8 positions. The girls put up a tough fight, and there were glimmers of great play and defence which the girls should be proud of, despite the match ending in disappointment.
Our Carrom team this year consisted of mainly freshmen and it was really hard to find people but with the gracious assistance and enthusiasm from our JCRC president Lawrence, we managed to pull in enough members to participate. Senior Kai Leong was one of our better players and he proved to be one of the best as he and Lawrences took the mens doubles with ease in round 6 and 7. Although many of our players were new to the game, it can proudly be said that Hall 2 has put up a decent fight against other halls as we managed to keep them at bay with draws and sometimes a win.

Although it was tiring and we did not manage to advance further, it was a good experience nonetheless for our players and i believe that with proper and organised training for next year 's games , with the caliber and pure talent of existing players, it is highly possible that Hall 2 can improve our carrom standards.
