SRC Sports Hall 2 NTU
Basketball F v Hall 6 (Semi-final)
WIN 59-54
WIN 59-54
In a pulsating encounter that could have swung either way in a blink of an eye, our Basketball girls joined their male counterparts in the finals with a nerve-wrecking win over Hall 6 in the semi-finals.
Things did not get off to a good start when our girls were down 0-8 in the 1st quarter, but led ably by Faith Gloria Khong and Cunfang Chua, they rallied to end the 1st quarter 15-13 in the lead. Little did the crowd know that the 1st quarter was to set the tone for the rest of the match, with seemingly comfortable leads by either team always getting closed up, and then swinging in the other team's favour instead.
While this ensured that the game stayed relevant as a competitive endeavour, the side effect was that neither group of supporters were able to enter into a comfortable lull. It was truthfully heart-in-mouth action.
Thankfully, 2 buzzer-beater shots by YiHui Low towards the last quarter meant that we managed to hold off Hall 6's inevitable last rally, and march on into the finals.
