IHG Table Tennis WP/LP

Table Tennis v Hall 10
WIN 4-1

Thursday, 13 February 2014
SRC Table Tennis Courts, NTU

Our table-tennis team recovered from their defeat in the preliminary game to win 4-1 today and progress into the Final Pool game.

The most tense game of the day was in the men's singles, where Shaun Chng faced off against their Hall 10's Hall Fellow; yes, Hall Fellows are allowed to represent the Hall in IHG/IHRG/IHCC events. At set point in the 2nd set, Shaun was at match point when the umpire awarded a point in his favour, which would have ended the set. But in an amazing display of sportsmanship, he told the umpire that the ball had actually scraped the edge of his table, and therefore insisted that the point be awarded to Hall 10.
The overseeing Sports Secretary Arnold Wee was dismayed, for he, to put it nicely, possessed a very strong will to win. But luckily for all involved, we still won that set, that game and the overall tie. Karma comes to those who deserve it.
Their next game would be the Final Pool game against Hall 1.
