Hall 2 Soccer Semi-finals by Lynette Teo

For the first time in 5 years, Hall 2's soccer team entered the semi-finals against Hall One, and boy did they impress. The turnout was certainly impressive, with an army of supporters decked out in white, and even some family support (Billy's mom and sister)!
For a match that was hampered by the incumbent weather, our players managed to make the best of the muddy pitch and held most of the ball possession for the first half. Billy's free kick came in close but alas, it was a miss. Things started to pick up when a corner taken by Ming Long led to a header by Yonggeng, who scored the first goal. The second goal was an individual effort by Kenneth Sim, whose 30-yard shot managed to find the top right hand corner of the goal post. His spectacular goal roused cheers from the stands, while supporters from Hall One were left with their mouths agape.
In the second half, the team managed to dominate yet again, with the same intensity and vigour they held in the first half. However, the muddy pitch almost cost them as the team was not used to the ground conditions. The third goal was a nailbiter as Ming Long's shot was caught in the waterlogged field, RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE GOAL LINE. As the opponent's goalkeeper frantically tried to salvage the situation, Teo Yuhao stuck to the game plan and secured the win for the team.
As conditions of the match worsened, changes were made and several substitutions took place: Bryan for Ah Lian; Billy for Kenryu; Arnold for Clement; Kenneth Sim for Yong Kai and lastly, Yuhao for Nicholas Tai.
The team effort led to a 3-0 victory against Hall One, who didn't even manage to threaten our team's chances because of the strong defensive line maintained by Yonggeng, Kenneth Gan, Alvin Bay and Haobin. Special mention also goes out to Arnold Wee for his hard tackling, who played his role as defensive midfielder well.
As for post-match entertainment, the crowd would certainly like to thank the Basketball seniors and Birthday Boys Yangzhi and Shaowei for their sportiness on the field. Their simultaneous underwear tearing was definitely a crowd pleaser and kept true to Hall 2's birthday tradition.
Our soccer team has made a historic leap to the finals tonight, and we'd like to thank all those involved for their commitment as well as supporters for keeping up the Hall 2 Spirit. Hall 2 will play against Hall 3 this Friday evening (timing to be confirmed), and in light of our annual Chinese New Year dinner, we'd like to ask residents who can make it to please go down to support the team! Even though we can't be there in person, we'll definitely be there in spirit! Our hearts are all with the players and we hope you'll do us proud!:)
