The Hall 2 Badminton Team has done us proud by winning in the finals and becoming the champions once again! Woohoo! It was an awesome triumph over Hall 3 as our team fought hard to retain the title.
We won the first match, Men’s Singles, with ease as Wei Pin stunned his opponent and supporters with his amazing skills and shots. Kai Lin also did well by brushing her opponent aside easily and winning the Women’s Singles. What a start! =) But that was the easy part.
Our Men’s Doubles of Aaron and Louis faced tough opponents from Hall 3 and lost the first set. But they were not to be deterred. They fought hard and almost managed to win the second set. However, it was just not their day and they lost the match. It was similar for our Women’s Doubles. Sarina and Eunice Karina tried their best, putting in their utmost efforts to reach every shot, but they were no match for the girls of Hall 3.
Then, it was left to the Mixed Doubles, THE DECIDER. Everyone was pumped up for this match. Supporters from both sides were cheering loudly and enthusiastically as this match would determine the Badminton champions for IHG 09/10. Yan Min and Zhi Kai went in psyched up and played extremely well in the first set! However, they did give us a scare in the next 20 min. Although they were leading 20-15, their opponents managed to catch up and win the second set. So it went down to the third. Shots few back n forth as Yan Min and Zhi Kai went all out to win. Our emotions went up and down like a roller coaster ride. We breathed a sigh of relief when they hit the 20-mark first, leading the score at 20-16. But they couldn’t find the finisher! After 3 rallies and match points saved by Hall 3, the game was still on. Everyone was on their toes as they watched the girl from Hall 3 serving at 19-20. The hall went silent. The next moment, the girl served into the net and everyone from Hall 2 starting screaming. WE WON!! It was an amazing match and everyone was overjoyed. Hall 2’s first gold of the season!
