Eve of New Year's Eve!

Under the blazing hot sun this morning, our softball girls were up against Hall 11 once again. As reported previously, we suffered a defeat when we were up against them in our first match. However, I am very proud to announce that tables have turned and we manage to emerge victorious this time round. We managed to secure 7 runs in the first inning, as the opponent’s pitcher performed below expectations as compared to the previous match. The teams seem to have taken on a reverse role, our pitcher did exceptionally well, striking 3 of their girls out before they could even score any runs. As we pull the score further away, their pitcher crumbled under pressure, the opposing team resorted to rotating their pitcher hoping it will make a difference, but we manage to bag another 6 runs. Our girls continued to perform exceptionally well ending the match with a score of 15-7.

As the girls played their softball match, our rugby guys were also fighting hard against hall 13 concurrently, following which they played against hall 9 at high noon. Even though both of our opponent s were fired up and ready to give in the best effort to overcome our rugby guys, they put on a terrific fight, but they lost in terms of experience. Our guys managed to hold the opponent, not giving them much opportunity to go beyond their own half of the pitch. Overall it was a pretty well played game, even though a large number of the players are pretty much new to the game.

As we approach a brand New Year, Hall 2 JCRC extends their well wishes to all the residents of Hall 2, not forgetting all the players of the inter-hall games and recreational games; you have definitely done us proud. Enjoy the well-deserved break and rest well! Look forward to the games Next Year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR IN ADVANCE!!

Lovely Job Basketball Girls!

Today, we faced off with Hall 7 for basketball girls; it was a crucial match for us in order to secure a place in the quarter finals. Our girls fought valiantly until the very last mille-second, but apparently lady luck isn’t on our side today, we lost with a final score of 28-29. Nevertheless, our girls performed outstandingly and deserve our cheers, kudos to them!

The match started off on the wrong foot, our poor defense allowed the opponents to gain an upper hand against us and our key player, Cheryl was unable to perform to her potential as Hall 7 being intimidated by her reputation sent their players to double team her. By the end of the 2nd quarter, we were trailing by 9 points with a score of 21-12. However, as the game progresses, we managed to beef up our defenses, giving the opponents no space to breathe under the hoops. In the 3rd and 4th quarter, we held Hall 7 at bay, allowing them to score a mere 8 points over the duration, as we steadily fought back gaining grounds against our opponents. Cheryl pushed on, despite being kept under the watchful eyes of her defenders. She fought really hard, slipping pass the opposing team’s defense numerous times attempting to score, risking being battered by the defenders. Even though the opposing teams committed numerous fouls on Cheryl, the referee only made the call on a small handful. As a result this referee was replaced, due to his inability to make proper judgment call of the match.

Despite all these factors, we managed to catch up with the opponents to a score of 28-29, we were in possession of the ball at the very last minute of the match but sadly, our girls were not able to finish off the opponent with the decisive shot. It was an extremely exciting match down to the last second. Our girls have definitely done their best; I must say they are definitely the best in the eyes of most hall 2 residents. Cheers to them! Well done girls!

In the afternoon, we had our squash match against Hall 3, our squash guys and girls done exceptionally well, winning 4 out of 5 sets of the match. Most of our opponents, were not very seasoned players, as a result, each set was a breeze, except for 1 female match. The opponent proved herself to be a tough nut to crack, and eventually we lost that 1 set. Overall, they guys and girls performed well. Keep it up people!

Nothing soft about soft ball

Have u ever tried playing softball? Until having actually playing a match today I realise how challenging the game actually is! Today we faced off against Hall 9 and it was really an exciting match. Also, I’m happy to announce that we manage to emerge victorious under the blazing afternoon sun!

Its was a close match today as we started off fielding in the first inning. We played a good defensive game converting an early fly catch and with Si Kuan’s exceptional pitching we only conceded 3 home runs. Next it was our turn to bat; we too only managed to convert 3 home runs in our inning. If you were at the pitch today you would constantly hear both sides taunting each other, “SWING BATTER! NO SWING NO FUN!” was being yelled at our Hall 2 batter all the time. It was really physiological warfare at its best; part and parcel of the game.

Our break through came much later in this low scoring game where we managed to convert 7 homeruns putting the pressure on our opponents who needed 4 to stay in the game in their next batting round. In the afternoon heat and sweat soaked shirts our defences held strong as we held them from converting to emerge victorious! Congratulation guys! Make sure your there to see us in the quarter finals!

Well done Takraw Guys!

Today as we resume IH in full swing we regret to have to bid farewell to our Sepak Takraw Team. Our guys fought on bravely only to be disappointed losing to Hall 12 resulting in us being knock out. On our previous encounter we actually were victorious over them but today their performance was superior forcing us to eat this humble pie.

The first set, we had a convincing victory with Roger leading the assault. Unfortunately we were unable to keep the lead losing the next 2 sets. Here we would like to thank all the Takraw player for their continued efforts and thank them for representing Hall 2 with pride in the games! As mentioned in earlier write ups there is no shame in defeat as long as we have strive to perform our best and be true to the spirit of sports. Don’t be disheartened guys! All the best for the rest of the games!

A memorable week in review (Recreational Games)

Hi everybody, another week of intensive IHRG games have concluded and this time, the focus was on our Carom and Scrabble teams. I’m extremely proud to announce that both our teams exceeded expectations and made evident improvements from last year.

17 and 18 December was the Inter-Hall Carom Competition, in which our Carom team squared off against the rest with tremendous results, winning 3 out of 4 fixtures on the 1st day, with the only loss coming from our duel with Hall 9, known for its stronghold in Recreational games. The momentum carried loss steam on the 2nd day, where we notched victory in 1 out of 3 fixtures, partly because we faced off with eventual Semi-finalist and finalist Hall 11 and Hall 6. 4 wins out of 7 assured us of a placing in the Quarter-finals, our best placing in the past 2 years. Since only Semi-finals are played in this year’s IHRG, our progress halted there. Nevertheless, our current Carom team provided much hope and has set a solid base in which future successes can be built upon. Kudos to the Carom team headed by Su Ru, which has won respect from other halls attributed from our strong competitive nature and ‘never say die’ spirit.

It was nearly the same scenario for our Scrabble Team. We finished the competition with 4 wins out of 7, but it was not enough to qualify for the semi-finals. Still, the intensive hard work and tenacity of our players during the competition was the evidence of their frequent training which even include Hari Raya Haji. The players worked their socks off to memorize list after list of scrabble words and came up with numerous strategies to fend off opponents, under the strong leadership of our captain Yun Xin. We were unlucky not to progress further, but our results was an improvement from the past year, so we can take pride from this year’s showing.

Boxing Day special!

Feeling refreshed after the Holiday Seasons? Tune back in to our updates on inter-hall games. The weather has been very kind on us, providing its glorious sunshine for the past week. Our Hall 2 players have gotten back into the mood, once again claiming victory to another two more games today.
First up was tennis, Team Hall Two has done us proud and bagged a 4-1 victory against Hall 11. Our tennis guys and girls have done tremendously well, especially for our mixed doubles. Our mixed doubles was played by Yuan Kai and Zi Bin; they were initially trailing by the score of 5 sets to 2 making a number of errors at the start of the game. However, they did not falter, instead they fought on, refusing to give in without giving the opposing team a tough battle.

Their efforts paid off, bringing the score to a deuce at 5 sets to 5 putting pressure on the opposing team. The excitement built up as the scores drew closer. Eventually they won with a score of 7 sets to 5. Even though it wasn’t the deciding match, their relentless spirit to strive for victory and determination was commendable. Great spirit Hall 2!

Up next was soccer, which was held at Jurong Junior College soccer pitch. With the afternoon sun scorching on our players, they played a marvelous match against Hall 4 and ending off the match with a 5-Nil Victory. Our players put in their heart and soul into the match scoring 3 goals with 3 well executed volleys beyond the penalty box.

As most of our players were not accustomed to the synthetic field, some of them were injured in the midst of the game. Is hall 2 facing a potential injury crisis? Nevertheless, it was job well done! Get well soon! Jia you Hall 2 and have a Happy Boxing Day!

Clash of the Titians

Seasons greetings! I’m sure everyone is in a jolly Christmas mood! For those who were still with us in hall to support the volleyball guys and girls team witnessed spectacular morning as our girls faced off against Hall 16 and our guys team Hall 6.

The blazing hot sun was unrelenting as the first volley was made watch by dozens of squinting eyes as our girls team secured victory in straights sets against Hall 16. Our girls played a steady game and showed their dominance testing the resolution of the hall 16 defense which crumbled.

The guys did us proud too though they failed to claim victory over Hall 6. The volleyball game was a delight to watch as every eye was fixated on the match. It was clear that both sides showed all the attributes that sports upholds – passion, fighting spirit, team spirit, sportsmanship and for us graciousness in defeat. It was a trilling and exciting match to watch as our hall claim the 1st set 25-23; and lost the next 2 sets 17-25 and 16-25. The match had several controversial moments as several judgment calls were made against our hall. Though many felt these call were unjustified, in spirit of true sportsmanship our players soldiered on despite the odds. It heart wrenching to witness our defeat as our team continued to fight hard despite being down.

As we approach a well deserved break from the IHG, we would like to firstly wish all our sports people happy holidays. We would like to thank all those who have been coming to support our Hall in the match, the welfare team for always being there aid our players with drinks and bandages and everyone who has contributed in one way or another. Merry Christmas!

Two in a Row

What a glorious sunny day it is today, something different from the usual shower we have all been experiencing throughout the games thus far. It’s nice to see it bright and sunny for a change but it maybe too sunny for comfort. However despite these extreme weather conditions thus far, Hall 2 has continued to perform exceptionally well!

The day started with the softball girls who bounced back from the previous defeat to dish out the same treatment they previously. We secured our victory by ending their batting round without allowing Hall 14 to secure any home runs. It was a good day for our girls and we’re confident they will perform well in the coming matches.

Hall 2 again managed to triumph in tennis winning 4-1 against hall 12. Our players had few errors and were more dominant throughout the matches allowing them to claim a comfortable victory. Good Show Hall 2! Keep up the exceptional performance!

A Hat-Trick for Hall 2

Today our hall yet again performed impressively clinching 100% victories on the 3 games played. The fist game was water polo against hall 7 and it really was a battle of epic proportions as both teams were neck to neck till the last quarter where we managed to break away to win with a final score of 7 to 5. Hall 7 was no walk in the park for your polo boys as they had experienced players which keep the game neck in neck. The match started well for us as we opened the scoring 3-nil with a powerful 1st goal from none other than Song Loo who’s shot deflected off the water surface slamming into the top right-hand corner of the net. However the pressure was on when Hall 7 pulled back to make the score 3-3 however we managed to overcome our opponents with better ball control and via their own defensive errors giving us a free throw to end the game 7-5 in our favour. Hearing the comments from players; they felt we played well however the teams defense could have been better.

Following which was female hockey. We dominated the possession against Hall 12 having far more attempts at goal as compared to them. The final score was 2 – nil in our favour as we stamped our victory with a powerful goal just before the final wistle was blown. The team played well with quick passes and several good attempts at goal. However at moments our defence was tested and it was fortunate that our full backs managed to hold the aggressive attacks.

The final match played today was basketball girls and it was really a spectacle. Cheryl was the star of the team as awed the crowed with her sheer speed, accuracy and style. Back with a vengeance after missing the 1st game, she opened the 1st quarter with giving us a 11 point lead against Hall 12 with 2 lay-ups, a beautiful 3pointer. The team played well as well with good defensive plays, however many a time we were unfortunate not being able to convert our shots. All 3 matches today were exciting, fast and furious. It was really not to be missed. Don’t miss out on the action! We look forward to seeing u at the next match!

Double Happiness!

Enough said! Hall 2 clinched 100% victories in the 2 matches we played today. First with female netball and then in male basketball. I’m afraid I forgot the exact score line but we dominated our opponents clearing leading hall 15 by over twenty points.

The guys basketball was another match to behold. It fast and furious. We found ourselves trailing to hall 7 initially as they to covert more attempts at the basket as compare to our hall players. After the initial lead that hall 7 had, our player retaliated furiously and the score line was neck in neck till the 3rd quarter where broke away with 2 well executed 3pointer from Raymond to emerge victorious! Well done hall 2 keep up the good work!

Today at the Games!

In all of life’s pursuits there will definitely be ups and downs. Today was a day of heartache for 2 of the 3 games played. In girl’s softball, we found ourselves trailing by 7 runs after our opponents managed to covert 2 fly catches. Despite the odds our girls still persisted and tried to make a comeback with unfortunately did not come through. Watching the game myself I could feel the pressure and the stress from the entire situation and its is understandable that at times it is difficult to overcome the odds and be victories especially when the spirit of your opponents swell.

Our hockey guys put up a brave fight as well! It was a victory we should have claimed but it was unfortunate that their star player returned and single-handedly help his hall make a comeback. In the 1st half Yew Loong played exceptionally well converting a spectacle goal. However in the 2nd half Hall 10’s national player made a shot from off his position from a short corner resulting in a penalty shootout in which we were defeated. As mention before there is no shame in defeat as our hockey boys have trained hard and played well. We salute their effort and next year I’m certain they will again rise up to the challenge.

Our only victory today was at the tables – the table tennis tables! Well done table tennis team! We clinched yet another victory this time from Hall 5 winning 3 set to 1. We apologise for not posting the upcoming fixtures as yet as we ourselves are unsure of them as the fixtures and matches change on a daily basis.

Golden Weekend for Hall 2!

This weekend two games were play; Table Tennis and Softball. In both games we found ourselves trailing initially but the spirit of our players prevailed and we managed to overcome the odds to clinch a well deserved victory.

In Table Tennis our first player Willy found himself trailing 2 matches to nil yet he managed suck it up and bring home the victory to hall 2 winning 3 sets to win 3-2. A familiar face at the matches – our welfare secretary, Xiang Ting, was as usual at the match. However this time she wasn’t there in the capacity of welfare but rather as Hall 2 athlete! Her performance was exceptional and presence essential to our victory on Saturday against Hall 5.

Our Sunday match at noon was softball. Again we found ourselves trailing. I’m not familiar with the game’s jargon but basically we trailing. This time our pitcher, Si Kuan saw us through as he managed to knock out opponents (Hall 15) striking out their players with precise pitches allow us to make a come back! Spirits are high as we end our week on a glorious note!

A special shout out to all our recreational secretaries as well as they had a gruelling weekend convening the billiards tournament for the IHG. Well done Hall 2 and keep up the exceptional effort! Do come down and support all your friends! See next week!

ITS FRIDAY!!

Today was a day of sweet victory and humbling defeat as our badminton team did us proud willing all five sets against hall 1. Our badminton team breezed through as they were met with little resistance form the opponents but we commend their fighting spirit and effort as they resisted us till the end. Our hall was clearly more technically competent in the sport and outclassed our worthy foes.

In the later evening of the day, our hall guys were scheduled for a Sepak Takraw match against hall 13. Our hall put up a good fight despite the fact that some of our important players were not able to make it for the match. Although we had already lost by 2 sets, the team showed great spirit and carried on to finish the third set. The day ended with a defeat, but the spirit of the hall remains strong, as our boys look forward to the upcoming matches.

Of Hard Rod and Balls

Snooker is a game that grows out of a twilight club world, and it imposes great psychological strains --- as today's matches demonstrate. Snooker is an appealing game, and not just because it goves a sporting chance to those who would never make it in games of more physical bent.

In today's snooker and 4-ball matches, our hall 2 players show startling wizardry with the cue, alongside endurance in a gruelling mind game. The hush - broken only by the hypnotic clinking of the balls - adds to the intensity. When so much entertainment panders to short attention spans with noise and movement alone, snooker's slow burning tension impinges great stress on both hall 2 players and supporters.

We came. We endured. And we ........ lost. I would have willingly traded half of my life just to write "We won". Yet circumstances dictated otherwise. Although we lost, our hall 2 players gave their everything and their efforts deserved to be lauded.

The preliminary match today pitted hall 2 against hall 5. In both the 4-ball and snooker matches, hall 5 players managed to find some form first, but this only served to galvanise our hall 2 players as they embarked on heavy scoring and tight tactical plays. Hall 2 managed to secure a 3-2 win against Hall 5 and we proceeded to compete against Hall 3 in the winners' bracket.

Up against hall 3, hall 3 triumphed both the 4-ball games, causing us to be down by 2 games. Many of hall 2 ardent supportes were vexed with frustations and a collective sigh of disappointment could be heard among the fans. One even had the mad idea to rush out and start massacring the halls 3 players. Oh, that person was me by the way.

Despite the overwhelming odds, our next pair of snooker players maintained their decorum and trashed both of their opponents to bring the nail-biting match to a 2-2- draw. Our hall 2 players are living exemplars of the axiom "form is temporary, class is permanent" and i am sure even the opponents will agree.

The last match that determined everything (to me at least) was a snooker match. Our hall 2 player was determined to bring glory to our hall, yet it was unfortunate that he missed a gilt-edged chance to clear up to lead. This caused me to go berserk and i started hitting balls with the snooker rod errrrr I mean although we lost, we accepted defeat with grace. Also, this meant that we had to compete with hall 5 again to fight for the 2nd place.

Contrary to popular belief of the fans that we could triumph again, our players suffered a lost of 1-3. Damnation. The matches this time were not pretty. Our hall 2 players broke down more often than my grandpa's old Mercedes Benz and we had to accept defeat. Again.

Although we did not managed to grasp victory, it was a close and compelling competition to hall 2 aficiados. The hall 2 players might not have won the chance to enter the finals of the competition, but they certainly had won my admiration and respect.

To huilin and jingxin: what the fish, we lost ARGAHRAGHRARGHAAGRG!!!!!! can we go and burn down hall 3 and hall 5 ???

*anyway, if you were wondering why there's a c chess pic in there, it's actually bass & terry playing c chess. can't believe bass is so intellectual! :D

A Turkey for Hall 2 on Day 4

The scorching sun graced the fourth day of the games where Hall 2 performed exceptionally well bagging 4 victories out of the 5 different games that we hel. The day started with our netball girls facing up against Hall 4. Our girls didn’t start well finding themselves outpaced and trailing 6-nil into the 1st quarter of the game. However their fighting spirit never waned as they turned the tides and overcame their opponents finding their momentum to clinch a commanding victory!

The winning streak continued into water polo as our water polo guys defeated Hall 8 dominating both quarters of the game with Song Loo practically being able to score from almost anywhere drawing awe from for the spectators and Jun Loong impressing everyone with his sheer speed and agility in the water. The score at full time was 14-1 in our favour and our polo guys ended their campaign against hall 8 with high spirits all geared up to prove themselves once again in the next match.

Following which was soccer where again our dominance was unmatched where Si Kuan opened the scoring with a long range volley finding the back of the net from a free kick. The score at full time as 2-nil in our favour as final whistle was blown claiming victory over hall 14. The muddy field did hamper the beautiful game as player had difficulty controlling and dribbling the ball in the centre-mid field as the mud glazed over the ball and player often could find their footing in the mud. However despite these difficulties our soccer boys did us proud and found the net clinching victory. Hall 14 had difficulty mounting an attack as we dominated possession and controlling pace of the game.

The fourth game for today was female hockey. Our girl’s hockey team was playing against Hall 15 and they emerged victorious with a score of 2-0. Our girls showed their dominance in the game, showing no mercy to their opponents. We were extremely offensive, and the opponents were not able to break out of their half. The girls played very impressively as they were very organized and more experienced. Eventually, the girls sailed to clinch their first victory of the season.

The last game of the day was snooker where we did not manage secure a victory but the effort was nonetheless highly commendable. Hall 2 played against hall 5 in the preliminary round beginning with four ball followed by the snooker segment where Hall 2 to compete in the winners' bracket.

Up against hall 3 in the winner’s bracket, hall 3 triumphed both the 4 ball games, causing us to be down by 2 sets. Our next pair of snooker players were not affected by the loss. Instead, they were even more determined to win their game & fight for another chance to win Hall 3. Unfortunately, this time he lost by as a result, we had to compete with hall 5 again to fight for the 2nd place. Unfortunately, luck wasn't on our side and we had to accept defeat. Overall it was a good day for our Hall 2 and we applaud all our sport and recreational players!

Clinching back the Victory | Guys Basketball

Earlier our hall unfortunately lost in female basketball; however our boy’s team manage to emerge victorious with a comfortable victory over hall 15 with a commanding lead. The score at full time as 40-9. Our team cruised to a comfortable victory opening an early lead with multiple quick breaks and turnovers. However many of the players felt the the performance of the team was still lacklusters.

Just going by the appearance of the teams it was rather apparent that our hall was more organized and prepared with proper jerseys, shoes and training. Our opponents came in various shirts, some even in board shorts and running shoes. Thus though victorious there were many learning point in which basketball team took back with them today. From informal chats with players we learn that they felt the team didn't mesh together well; many were simply looking for the basket instead of focusing on team based play. At times the defense wasn't prepared to handle the challenges of the opponents being leaving free spaces in which our opponents could capitalize on and convert a few baskets. It maybe have the the opening game jitters that affect the play and we are confident the basketball team will only improve as they gain momentum as they make their progress through the games.

Objectively as Si Kuan commented, the team has room for improvement and thought we have highly skilled individuals, claiming the champion trophy would require a greater effort as a team. Here we would like to applaud the team for their effort and celebrate the victory which they have fought to secure! Do come and watch them in action. Well done guys!

No shame in Defeat!! 3 Cheers for Hall 2 Basketball Girls!

As usual, following weather trends of the past few days, we had yet another rainy and wet start to our 3rd day of the Hall Olympiad. Today Hall 2 basketball girls team clashed with Hall 7 at the NIE indoor basketball court. Though we did not manage to clinch victory losing to hall 7 with a score of 38-19 our basketball girls still did us proud fighting hard till the end. Of all the elements involved in sports – strength, speed, skill, stamina and spirit – The greatest of these is spirit and its something that our Basketball girls had no lack of. Despite the odds they never gave up hope maintaining a ferocious fighting spirit striving to score and close the gap as much as they could. Our girls performed well defensively stopping multiple attacks from far more experienced basketball players which is no easy feat. Though the defeat is setback to the team we are confident the that our player will keep their spirits high and keep striving to bring glory to the hall! Hall 2, hall 2, hall 2! Jia You, Jia You, Jia You!

The 4th Player

In the sport of Sepak Takraw , we see 3 players from each hall competing against one another on the court to outplay , outwit and outlast the opponent in a display of technical abilities. The 3 people on the court represent the physical aspect of the sport , the true spirit of the sport is not only seen in the physical representation by the players on the court , but also the supporters who turned up in huge numbers to cheer their players on . This group of people is typically known as “the 4th player”. They may not be as physically gifted , they may not be your typical sportsmen and women , but they love the sport and they love our hall. The presence of this 4th player on the courts today led us to a victory in the takraw match against hall 12 where we came from behind in the second set to end off the match. Our boys showed grit and determination to take the first set but were taken aback by a series of errors that led to the opposition leading us late in the second set. After a time-out , our boys regained concentration and with every point they scored back , the cheers grew louder and their confidence grew, they drew strength from the supporters and found the ability to pick up where they left off. They then ended the match to a resounding cheer and left the opponents thinking to themselves where their 4th player had gone to.

Apart from the Takraw boys that were on display in the afternoon, our hockey boys also took to the pitch to strut their stuff against a mightily talented hall 7 side. Our team saw a good mix of experience and determined players eager to show what they could do against the super stars of hall 7 .Despite the brave effort put up by the boys , the match ended in a 2-0 defeat . Our boys left the pitch with their heads held high and after a quick debrief, they were ready to pull up their socks and train harder for the next game . The spirit shown by the hockey guys has to be commended as they chose to look ahead to their next game instead of harping on their defeat.

All in all , it was another successful day for Hall 2 . We may have conceded our first defeat of the season, but the spirit of the hall and the games itself was commendable.

Victorious Volley

It was an auspicious day for Team hall 2 as they began their challenge for the Inter-hall championships in the male and female volleyball preliminary stages. The day saw the start of the 2-month long inter-hall games which will include 20 sports with 16 halls competing for the individual sports champions and the overall sports hall championship. Our challenge for the Inter-hall championships started way back in September. All 20 teams began trainings with overwhelming numbers and saw the likes of experienced professionals , school representatives , and not to forget , beginners who just want to learn the game come down for training. Today’s competition began with the female volleyball team as they were put against last year’s overall inter-hall champions hall 3. Our girls were never frightened by the opposition and began the game with their intentions clear. They dominated the match winning both sets by impressive margins. With every spike and serve, our girls seemed to grow stronger and stronger , at one point holding on to a 21-0 lead . They left the opposition looking confused and disorganized . Our girls played to their strengths and enjoyed themselves out on the court today . That was what led them to victory.

The male volleyball team was up next against a fairly resilient hall 10 side. The opposition sought to disorientate our players and strike fear in us through their body language and actions but our guys never looked like they were going to crumble. They stayed true to their game plan and despite some unforced errors, we were able to defeat hall 10 in 2 sets. Our discipline and ability to play to our game plan led us to victory.

It was a victorious day for Hall 2 sports but it is not the end. The journey towards Inter-hall glory has just begun. On the courts , the players will try their best and give their utmost for the hall . Off the court , we need supporters . If you find yourselves in hall with some spare time , drop by our notice board to get the latest updates and come support Team Hall 2 .

Well done Team hall 2 !!!

Of Othello and Fallen Knights

The Hall 2 Othello team strode into the battling arena brimming with confidence in the morning. We left the place crying in the evening. Oh well, i exaggerate but there is a semblance of truth in what i have written.

Playing 7 games of othello in 1 day is no mean task. The pressure is killing and every game drains the players out.

Although our othello knights battled ferociously, i have to regretfully inform our hall 2 fans that we lost with a total score of 2 game won-5 game lost. Although we lost, i have to give accolades to hall 2 othello players as they really gave their best shot and in two of our games, hall 2 actually lost by a very close margin of 2 boards won-3 boards lost. Damn it.

Fun facts:
Hall 15 Othello team is no mere braggadacio, they won all their games with a score of either 4-1 or 5-0. So if any of u are playing against hall 15 for any interhall games, please trash them back mercilessly.

Jingxin kena wipeout ---> translation ---> he lost all his seeds when he played against hall 15, the rest are not much better off either. More reason for all hall 2 people to whack hall 15 people if u ever see them.

To Jingxin, Huilin, Wenyuan, Bass and Weiping, my deepest heartfelt gratitude for fighting the othello battles together with me. Seriously i love you guys (no, i am not gay), you guys rock !!

Signing off,
Othello Manager,
Kelvin

Day one at the games!!

Despite the poor conditions today. Hall 2 managed to pull of victories in volleyball and put up a good fight at Othello for the recreational games! Do visit the blog and the Hall Olympiad website daily for updates and fixtures! Many of the post this IHG season will be from various writers as well so do let us all your support!

We're Home!!

I’m sure that the morale of everyone is at an all time high at this moment with the completion of the exams and a fantastic overseas trip! So firstly a special thanks to the organising committee of the overseas trip - especially to Samuel for making all this possible! I really salute his commitment and passion for hall 2.
